The 2024 Member Show will be hung on Monday, April 1. Submissions for the show must be in the ASA Gallery by Saturday, March 30. Please note that this is one day earlier than usual because of the extra preparation that needs to be done for this event.
This show is open to all ASA members regardless of whether or not they have paid the $20 fee for display privileges. Since we are anticipating more than the usual number of artists participating in this event, submissions are limited to two per artist or one if your piece is very large. You are welcome to submit all forms of hanging art as well as 3-dimensional art, fiber arts, mixed media, etc.
The show will be juried. First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded in five categories:
Oil
Water media including acrylic and water
color
Photography
Fiber arts and other mixed media
3- Dimensional art
If you do not want your piece(s) considered for a ribbon, please make a note of that when you bring it in.
All show pieces will also be critiqued by our judges. There will be a judge for photography, one for mosaics and one for the remaining artwork. Their comments will be recorded and made available to all artists. For judging, the art pieces will be identified only by a number and title. Historically, these critiques by the judges have been the most anticipated and useful parts of the show from the artists’ point of view.
The same criteria will apply to this show as to the quarterly rehangs. Hanging pieces must be wired; sawtooth and other types of hangers will not be accepted. Each piece needs a label and the small label PAA uses for sales. Instructions will be laid out on the table as usual. A Hold Harmless form must be signed for 2024.
The Member Show will be taken down on April 15 and the regular Spring rehang will take place. It’s very possible that the majority of artists taking place in the Spring rehang will be able to bring in an additional piece or may want to replace Member Show pieces with others.
There will be a reception in conjunction with PAA and the Cultural Center on Friday, April 5 from 5:00-7:00.
REMINDERS:
There are two gallery requirements that I would like to remind all artists and instructors.
1. If you use any dishes, cups, glassware or cutlery in the kitchen, please wash, dry and put them away before you leave for the day.
2. Instructors, you are responsible for emptying the garbage in the classroom after your classes. You do not have to worry about the kitchen or bathroom receptacles as PAA handles those areas.
There is a list of instructor
requirements attached to
the instructor’s table.
Please review before your
class.
